Typical Xbox faults
No picture on the TV
The console runs, the TV reports no signal. As with the PlayStation, the HDMI port is often broken or loose.
We check the cable and settings, then replace the port.
Will not start or switches straight off again
First a restart. Hold the Xbox button on the front of the console for about ten seconds until it turns off, then switch it on again. On the original Xbox One the light on the external power supply shows whether it is working.
If it stays off or blinks, we replace the power supply, otherwise we keep looking on the board.
Gets hot, loud or switches off
Dust in the heatsink and old thermal paste push the temperature up until the fan revs up or the console shuts down.
We clean the fan and heatsink and renew the thermal paste.
Disc isn't read
The drive clicks, spins without reading or will not take the disc in. The Series S and the Series X Digital Edition have no drive.
On the Series X, One and 360 we check the laser and mechanism.
Three red lights on the Xbox 360
On the original Xbox 360, three red lights on the ring around the power button mean a general hardware fault.
Whether a repair is worth it on a console this old, we tell you honestly after the diagnosis.
How much does an Xbox repair cost?
It depends on the fault. A clean with fresh thermal paste is less work than a new HDMI port or a new power supply.
That is why the diagnosis is free with us. After that you get a fixed amount, and we only repair after your OK.
If the repair is not worth it, we tell you and, if you like, make you an offer for the faulty Xbox.

When the repair is not worth it
With an Xbox 360 or an original Xbox One, the repair can cost more than the console still fetches second-hand. We tell you beforehand and, if you like, buy it from you as it is.
Common questions
How much does an Xbox repair cost?
That depends on the model and the fault. After the free diagnosis you get a fixed amount, and we only repair once you agree.
Is there a warranty on the repair?
Yes. The repair we carried out and the parts we fitted come with a 12 month warranty from the day the device is returned. New damage from drops or liquid and work by third parties are excluded. The details are on our warranty page.
Why does my Xbox switch itself off?
Usually it gets too hot because dust clogs the ventilation or the thermal paste has dried out. Set it up in the open with space all round. If that does not help, we clean it.
Do you also repair the Xbox 360 and Xbox One?
Yes. On the 360, overheating, the drive and the red lights are typical cases, on the Xbox One things like the power supply or the HDMI port. Whether the repair is worth it, we tell you after the diagnosis.
Do I need to send the power supply and controller too?
Send the external power supply of the original Xbox One along if the console will not start. We only need controllers if they have a problem themselves.
Can I send the Xbox by post or drop it off?
Both. By post from anywhere in Switzerland, or you drop it off in Holziken by appointment. We are in Holziken AG, near Aarau, Zofingen and Olten, and you get the address and the next steps with our assessment. Pack the console well padded, ideally in the original box.
