What we do on PCs and laptops
Loud and hot
Dust in fans and coolers and dried-out thermal paste make the temperature rise until the processor and graphics card throttle.
We clean, apply fresh thermal paste and replace fans that grind.
Won't start
No sign of life, a brief flash or beeps at start-up. Often the power supply, the memory or a loose cable is behind it.
The diagnosis finds out which part it is, and we also replace the power supply on its own.
Has become slow
An old hard drive is often the biggest brake. With an SSD the computer starts noticeably faster, and more memory helps when lots of programs run at once.
On many thin laptops the memory is soldered on, and we check that before ordering parts.
Crashes and blue screen
Overheated parts, faulty memory or old drivers make the computer crash.
We test the hardware under load and tell you what is to blame.
Reinstall Windows
When the system is full of old clutter and keeps hanging, often only a clean fresh start helps.
We reinstall Windows and set up the drivers. Back up your data first, because the reinstall wipes the drive.
How to prepare your PC
Three things save time in the diagnosis and protect your data.
- Back up your data to an external drive or the cloud.
- Note down exactly what happens, such as beeps at start-up or an error message. A photo of the screen helps us with the diagnosis.
- With a laptop, include the charger. With a desktop the computer itself is enough, without screen and keyboard.
If it is only about an upgrade, send us the make and model and what you would like. We tell you beforehand which parts fit your device.

Diagnosis and fixed price
The diagnosis costs nothing. You get a fixed amount, and for an upgrade it includes the parts we suggest.
Repair and return
After your OK we repair or upgrade, test under load and return the device to you.
When the repair is not worth it
On an old laptop a repair or upgrade can cost more than it gives you. We tell you that beforehand. If a new computer is the better choice, we build you a gaming PC to your budget, and if you like we buy your old device from you, even if it is faulty.
Common questions
How much does a clean with new thermal paste cost?
That depends on the device, as a laptop is more work than a desktop. You get the fixed amount after the free diagnosis.
Is there a warranty on the repair?
Yes. The repair we carried out and the parts we fitted come with a 12 month warranty from the day the device is returned. New damage from drops or liquid and work by third parties are excluded. The details are on our warranty page.
Can I have my laptop upgraded?
Often yes. A bigger or faster SSD can be fitted in most laptops. With memory it depends on whether it is socketed or soldered, and we check that first.
Will my data be kept?
With a clean or a hardware swap they stay on the drive. A Windows reinstall wipes them, which is why you back up what matters to you first.

Can I send the PC by post or drop it off?
Both. By post from anywhere in Switzerland, well packed and ideally in the original box, or you drop it off in Holziken by appointment. A heavy graphics card is best taken out for transport, or ask us first.
