Typical PlayStation faults
No picture on the TV
The console runs, yet the TV reports no signal. On the PS5 and PS4 the HDMI port is often broken or loose, and sometimes it is the chip behind it that processes the picture signal.
We check the cable and settings first, then replace the port.
Loud, hot or switches itself off
Dust in the heatsink and dried-out thermal paste push the temperature up. The fan then spins up in the menu already, and at some point the console shuts down to protect itself.
We open it up, clean the heatsink and fan and apply fresh thermal paste.
Disc isn't read
The drive spins, clicks or ejects the disc straight away, and the PS2 reports a read error. Usually the laser is dirty or worn, less often the mechanism.
We check the laser and mechanism and tell you whether a clean is enough or a part needs replacing.
Will not start or only blinks
The console does not respond, beeps without a picture or stops with a blinking light. On the PS3 a yellow light followed by red blinking means a hardware fault, without saying which one.
The cause can be anything from the power supply to the motherboard, and that is exactly what the free diagnosis clears up.
Controller will not connect
The DualSense or DualShock will not charge, loses the connection or does not respond at all. Often a reset with the small button on the back already does the trick.
If that does not help, we check the charging port, battery and circuit board.
PSP and PS Vita
A swollen battery, lines on the screen or buttons that no longer respond. We look at the portable PlayStation consoles too.

We repair it, test the console on a TV and send it back to you.
When the repair is not worth it
With an old PS3 or a PS4 with several faults, the repair can cost more than the console is still worth second-hand. We tell you before the repair, and if you like we make you an offer for the faulty device.
Common questions
How much does a PS5 or PS4 repair cost?
That depends on the fault, which is why we give no price before we have seen the console. The diagnosis is free. After that you get a fixed amount, and we only repair once you agree.
Is there a warranty on the repair?
Yes. The repair we carried out and the parts we fitted come with a 12 month warranty from the day the device is returned. New damage from drops or liquid and work by third parties are excluded. The details are on our warranty page.
Why is my PS5 so loud, and does a clean help?
A loud fan usually means the console is running too hot, often because of dust in the heatsink or old thermal paste. A clean with fresh paste lowers the temperature and with it the noise. If the console sits tight inside a cabinet, more space around it helps too.
Do you also repair the PS3 and the PS2?
Yes. On the PS3, overheating and the drive are typical cases, on the PS2 the disc read error. Whether repairing an old console is worth it, we tell you after the diagnosis.
Do you also repair the PSP and the PS Vita?
Yes. A swollen battery, lines on the screen or buttons that no longer respond are typical cases. After the free diagnosis we tell you whether spare parts are available and what the repair costs.
Should I send my PS5 to Sony first?
If it is still under the manufacturer's warranty and has no drop or water damage, ask Sony first. A repair with us means the console gets opened.
Will I lose my saved games?
Back them up first, on the PS5 and PS4 to the PlayStation Plus cloud or to a USB drive. Some repairs make a reset unavoidable, and whether yours is one of them is stated in the quote.
Can I send the console by post or drop it off?
Both. By post from anywhere in Switzerland, or you drop it off in Holziken by appointment. We are in Holziken AG, near Aarau, Zofingen and Olten, and you get the address and the next steps with our assessment. Best keep the stand and discs at home.
