Typical Wii and GameCube faults
Disc isn't read
The drive spins but the game does not start, or the disc comes straight back out. Usually the lens is dirty, the laser is weak or the mechanism is worn.
We clean the lens, check the laser and mechanism and replace whatever is faulty.
Remote will not connect
The Wii Remote no longer finds the console, or the pointer jumps around the screen. That can be down to the sensor bar, its cable or the console’s Bluetooth module.
We test the remote, sensor bar and console one by one and find the part that is failing.
No picture on the TV
The console runs, the TV stays black. Often it is the cable or the console’s port, and on the Wii U it can also be the HDMI port.
We check the cable and ports and replace the port if it is faulty.
GameCube says the lid is open
The lid is closed, yet no game starts. Usually the small switch that tells the GameCube whether the lid is closed is faulty.
We adjust or replace the switch, and the game starts again.
Loud, hot or switches itself off
Dust in the heatsink and old thermal paste push the temperature up until the fan revs up or the console shuts down.
We clean the fan and heatsink and renew the thermal paste.
Wii U GamePad
Over the years the GamePad battery weakens, or the charging port loses contact.
We check the battery and charging port and replace whatever is needed.
How the repair works
Enquire
You pick your device above and describe what no longer works. With our reply you send it in by post or drop it off in Holziken by appointment.
Diagnosis and fixed price
We tell you what is faulty, whether spare parts exist and what the repair costs.
Repair and return
After your OK we repair it, test it with a game and send the device back to you.
When the repair is not worth it
For some drives there are no spare parts left, or the repair costs more than the console is worth. Then we tell you, and if you like we make you an offer, because we also buy faulty consoles.
Common questions
How much does it cost to repair my Wii?
It depends on the fault. After the free diagnosis you get a fixed amount, and we only repair once you say ok.
Is there a warranty on the repair?
Yes. The repair we carried out and the parts we fitted come with a 12 month warranty from the day the device is returned. New damage from drops or liquid and work by third parties are excluded. The details are on our warranty page.
My Wii no longer reads discs. Is a repair worth it?
Often, yes. A dirty lens or a sticking mechanism is fixed quickly. If the laser is faulty, it depends on whether a spare part is still available. We tell you what it costs before the repair.
My GameCube says the lid is open. What is broken?
Usually the small switch that tells the GameCube the lid is closed. As a rule, that can be repaired.
Do you also repair the Wii U and the GamePad?
Yes, with the same free diagnosis. On the GamePad, the battery and the charging port are the most common cases.
How do I send in the console?
By post from anywhere in Switzerland, well padded in a box, or you drop it off in Holziken by arrangement. Include the cable, power supply, sensor bar or remote if the problem could be to do with them.
