How to spot a faulty HDMI port
No signal although the console is running
The light is on, the fan is spinning, the screen stays black. That is the typical picture with a broken port.
We check the contacts and replace the port if it is broken.
Picture flickers or only appears when you wiggle the cable
The picture drops out as soon as someone knocks the cable, or flickers with short dropouts. Then contacts inside the port have come loose.
Plug sits loose or crooked
The plug barely goes in, sits at an angle or almost slides out by itself. Bent or missing contacts are visible inside the port.
After someone tripped over the cable
Often there is a moment behind it that you remember. Someone tripped over the cable, the console was moved with the cable plugged in, or it fell over.
The port or the chip behind it
Behind the port, on the motherboard, sits a chip that processes the picture signal. A power surge can damage it, and from the outside it looks exactly like a broken port.
Only the diagnosis shows which case it is, which is why we only give the price afterwards.
What you can rule out yourself
Not every missing picture is a hardware fault. You can check three things in a few minutes.
- Try a different HDMI cable and a different input on the TV.
- Start the PS5 in Safe Mode. To do this, hold down the power button on the switched-off console until the second beep sounds after about seven seconds, then connect the controller with the USB cable and press the PS button.
- In Safe Mode, under Change Video Output, choose a lower resolution or change the HDCP mode.
If a picture appears in Safe Mode, the cause is a setting and not the port. If your PS5 is still new, also ask Sony first whether the manufacturer's warranty applies.

Only after your OK do we replace the port, test the console on a TV and send it back to you.
When the repair is not worth it
Sometimes the repair costs more than the console is worth to you, for example when the motherboard has suffered as well as the port. Then we tell you before we do anything, and if you like we make you an offer for the faulty PS5.

How much does a PS5 HDMI repair cost?
We give you the fixed amount for your console after the free diagnosis. Whether only the port or also the chip behind it is affected makes the difference, and we only repair after your OK.
Is there a warranty on the repair?
Yes. The repair we carried out and the parts we fitted come with a 12 month warranty from the day the device is returned. New damage from drops or liquid and work by third parties are excluded. The details are on our warranty page.
My PS5 shows no picture, is it definitely the HDMI port?
Not always. First try a different cable and a different input on the TV and start the console in Safe Mode, where you can lower the resolution. If a picture then appears, it is a setting. Otherwise we look at the console for free.
How long does the repair take?
That depends on the fault and the spare parts. We give you the timing in the quote, so before you agree.
Will I lose my saved games?
Back them up first to the PlayStation Plus cloud or to a USB drive, because some repairs make a reset unavoidable. Whether yours is one of them is stated in the quote.
Do you also repair the HDMI port on the PS4?
Yes, on the PS4 and PS4 Pro as well as the PS3. The process and the free diagnosis are the same.
