Which PS4 do you have?
PS4 from 2013
The first design, called Fat in the form. Its model number starts with CUH-1.
PS4 Slim from 2016
The slimmer design. The model number starts with CUH-2.
PS4 Pro from 2016
The more powerful design, built for 4K TVs. The model number starts with CUH-7.
Disc drive and model number
All three have a disc drive, so every PS4 disc runs on every PS4. The model number starts with CUH and is on the sticker on the casing.
What decides the amount
Your price depends on what counts on a PS4. That is why we ask exactly about that, and first about how it works.
- How it works, meaning the disc drive, fan, HDMI port and the controllers. If a stick on the DualShock drifts or the battery only lasts a short while, we see it during the check.
- The model, meaning the first PS4, the Slim or the Pro.
- The condition of the casing.
- Whether a controller is included. The power supply and cables belong with the console, as they came from the factory, and you don’t need the original box.
What you end up with you see straight away in the configurator, as the maximum price for the condition you describe. The amount becomes binding after our check, and if something then differs from what you told us, you decide in your own time whether to accept.

Deactivate and initialise your PS4
A PS4 that is still set as your primary console stays linked to your account. You undo that in three steps.
- Back up your saves to PlayStation Plus online storage or to a USB drive.
- Deactivate the console under Settings, Account Management, Activate as Your Primary PS4, then Deactivate.
- Then initialise it under Settings, Initialisation, Initialise PS4 and choose Full. That takes longer than the quick option, but wipes the console thoroughly.
If you can no longer get to the console, you deactivate all your consoles at once in PlayStation Account Management, and you can do that once every six months. We reset every console again before we resell it anyway, but the first wipe is best done by you.
Games go in a separate request
Almost all PS4 games also run on a PS5 with a disc drive, which is why they are still in demand. You sell them with a separate request, where you choose Games and the PlayStation 4, type in the titles, one per line, and say how they are packed. Every title is valued individually.
To be honest, yearly sports titles and the big sellers of that era only fetch a few francs today, because they exist in their millions. We take them anyway, and then your shelf is empty in one go.

Faulty PS4, sell or repair
We also buy a PS4 that gets loud, shows no picture or no longer takes discs. In the form, choose Faulty under Condition and describe in one sentence what does not work. If a repair makes more sense for you, for example a clean with fresh thermal paste to deal with the noise, we tell you so openly.
